SocialFlight 2.0 launches

By Janice Wood · December 4, 2012 ·

Where2 Interactive has launched SocialFlight 2.0, a newly enhanced version of the free mobile app that provides pilots with an interactive map of thousands of aviation events and the ability to share those events with friends. This new release also coincides with membership surpassing 10,000 users and the database reaching over 3,000 aviation events in 2012, company officials note.

The SocialFlight event database includes activities important to pilots such as fly-ins, airshows, pancake breakfasts, conventions, FAA Safety Seminars and much more. SocialFlight users can search for events, add events, chat, upload photos, get email notifications, send event notices to their friends and even add events automatically to their Google or Outlook calendar.

“We’re extremely excited at the rapid success of SocialFlight and the overwhelming response we have received from our users,” said Jason Clemens, one of SocialFlight’s founders. “We set out to create a free, universal tool that could show pilots all of the opportunities awaiting them on their next flying adventure. With SocialFlight 2.0, we’re taking the entire flying community to the next level by making it simple to find other pilots with common interests or aircraft, chat, share photos and organize attendance to the thousands of events in our database.”

In addition to many other new features, SocialFlight now provides users with their very own “Hangar Page” from which they can search for other SocialFlight members, join together in “Flight Clubs,” Chat, Share Photos and much more. Users can also click on the “Fans” button on any event to see a list of other pilots who have made the event one of their “Favorites” and plan to attend.

SocialFlight also includes tools for organizations such as aircraft owner’s groups. Using a free web link provided by SocialFlight, organizations can provide their members with an interactive view of their own events right from the organization’s web site.

SocialFlight is a free app available on the iTunes App Store for iPhone and iPad. It is also available on the Google Play Store for Android Phones and Tablets, as well as on the web at SocialFlight.com.
