A pancake breakfast fundraiser has been slated for every Saturday and Sunday from April 6 to June 2 at the Ocean City Municipal Airport (OXB) in Maryland to help defray the costs of restoring the Huey Memorial display adjacent to the terminal building.
The display was damaged by a recent storm, according to airport officials.
Just as with Hurricane Sandy, high winds snapped restraining cables on both rotor blades, officials report.
“We will have to bite the bullet on this one, and modify the existing system to avoid future occurrences of this kind,” officials said in a prepared release. “This expense, combined with the Ocean City Aviation Association’s (OCAA) share of the final touches to the display’s landscaping and plaque costs, have placed OCAA in the position of having to request donations from members of the aviation public. These donations will assist OCAA with the cost of the Huey repairs, plus landscaping costs.”
Estimated costs are $1,600.
“Contributions from the aviation public and businesses would be most appreciated,” officials said. “It is amazing what repairs OCAA members and volunteers can accomplish with every dollar received.”
Can’t fly in, but want to help? Make donations payable to: OCAA Memorial Fund, and mail to Ocean City Aviation Association, P. O. Box 4355, Ocean City, MD 21843-4355.
The pancake breakfasts will be held from 9 a.m. till noon. Donations accepted for pancakes, eggs, and the works.
