King Schools releases free non-towered operations course

By General Aviation News Staff · April 28, 2013 ·

Pilots facing the closure of towers at familiar airports will now have some free help from King Schools.

NonTowered_PRJohn and Martha King have released a free online non-towered airport operations course that takes customers through the paces of arrival and departure from airports without an operating control tower, and shows how to use skillful communication, together with situational awareness, to help manage collision risk.

“With the closing of towers at many airports, it is more critical than ever to brush up on non-towered operations,” remarked Martha. “This free course provides a wealth of pointers on issuing clear and professional communications.”

“Radio call-up procedures, correct radio terminology, and how to use your radio for increased safety and utility are all there — even the best way to resolve on-air disputes,” stated John.

“We hope offering this training for free will help ensure that every pilot has access to this critical information and that we are all ready for the transition to operations at more busy, non-towered airports,” concluded Martha.

The King Schools Online Non-Towered Communications course is available for free.
