Burlington, Wash. — Four years after the last airshow and fly-in at Skagit Regional Airport (BVS), Skagit Flight Fest 2013 is cleared for takeoff. The event will take place Saturday, Sept. 7 and, keeping with tradition, admission is free.
A partnership involving the Port of Skagit, Burlington Chamber of Commerce and Skagit Airport Support Association will produce the show, with local pilot Jay Findlay chairing the organizing committee.
The centerpiece of Skagit Flight Fest 2013 will be an aerobatics show lasting about 90 minutes. Performers will include the father-and-son team of Bud and Ross Granley, “The Flying Tenor” Will Allen and female aerobatic and racing pilot Vicky Benzing. A wide variety of static displays, youth activities and vendors will round out the day.
Skagit Regional Airport was unable to host an airshow/fly-in from 2010 through 2012 due to a multi-year project to rebuild the main runway.
“Now that the runway project is complete, the Port of Skagit looks forward to reprising the show as a way to promote the value and use of the airport among citizens of (the) port district,” officials said.
