Airforms gets FAA approval for engine baffles on Piper Cherokees

By General Aviation News Staff · June 5, 2013 ·

BIG LAKE, Alaska — Airforms, Inc. has obtained FAA design approval and Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) for replacement engine baffling on Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee aircraft. This approval is specific to mid-range S/N aircraft.

“This approval represents the latest expansion of our growing product line,” said Lee Budde, president. “We have crafted a replacement part that exceeds the original’s performance by updating materials and construction methods. We know that aircraft owners cherish the engine compartment. Airforms is pleased to offer custom powder coat colors on all our replacement engine baffles.”

He noted that the company has ramped up approval capability with FAA-DER structural and powerplant engineering staff. “Our added engineering capability is accelerating expansion of our baffle product line and fueling development of new replacement parts for single and twin turboprop aircraft,” he said.

Airforms, Inc. maintains stock of all its FAA Approved engine baffle kits for popular models of Piper, Cessna, and Beechcraft aircraft. Approved parts and complete assemblies are ready for immediate shipment.

The new Piper PA-28-180 baffle kits are eligible for aircraft S/N 28-1761 through 28-750259 (1965 through 1972 models). Initial kit pricing is USD $1,115, which includes all metal parts, assemblies and seals to replace the original engine baffling. Individual parts are available for aircraft owners who only need to replace a portion of the engine baffling.
