Chicago Executive Airport (PWK) has been named Reliever Airport of the Year by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Aeronautics.
To be considered for the honor, the airport, which is jointly owned by the city of Prospect Heights and the Village of Wheeling, submitted a nine-page entry that demonstrated the advancements of the airport, as well as its commitment to the aviation community and residents and businesses in the surrounding area.
The award was based on the airport staff’s cooperation with IDOT, adherence to federal guidelines, safety record, airport improvements, involvement with the aviation and regional communities and overall maintenance performance.
“This is a great honor for the airport,” said Airport Manager Dennis Rouleau. “It demonstrates just how much effort everyone here at Chicago Executive Airport puts into making sure we’re the best possible airport.”
The Reliever Airport of the Year Award, and other airport awards for different categories of airports and aviation facilities, were presented at the Illinois Aviation Conference held May 15 in Moline.
