Delaware governor proclaims General Aviation Month

By General Aviation News Staff · June 10, 2013 ·

Delaware Governor Jack Markell has proclaimed June “Delaware General Aviation Month.” Across the state of Delaware, general aviation has an economic impact of $188 million annually.

“We would like to thank Governor Markell and Lt. Governor Denn for their continued support of general aviation,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “Local airports and the general aviation industry play a critical role in our communities, serving businesses, law enforcement, farms, and medical care providers.”

“Delaware’s airports and pilots are integral to keeping communities connected and allowing essential services and resources to reach businesses and other groups around the state,” stated Craig L. Fuller, President and CEO of the Aircraft Owners And Pilots Association (AOPA). “We look forward to working with Governor Markell to continue to raise awareness about the value of general aviation airports and aircraft in Delaware and around the nation.”
