Patient AirLift Services (PALS) has received a generous donation from BTIG, a global trading and fund services company, located in New York City.
The donation was presented during BTIG’s 11th Annual Commissions for Charity Day, an event in which BTIG donates a substantial amount of its profits to numerous charitable groups around the world.
Patient AirLift Services (PALS) is a non-profit, volunteer pilot organization that provides humanitarian flights to patients requiring medical care, or other humanitarian purposes, at no cost to the patient.
“We feel very fortunate to have been chosen as one of 200 organizations supported through this event,” stated Eileen Minogue, Executive Director at PALS. “Our mission is growing by leaps and bounds. We have had a 78% increase in request for flights in the last year, and could not exist without the support of generous people like BTIG’s co-founders Scott Kovalik and Steven Starker and their employees and clients. A world of thanks goes to Jay Bozick of BTIG and PALS volunteer pilot Jeff Radke of Barclays Bank, as they were very instrumental in raising awareness of the valuable services PALS provides and sponsoring PALS to the BTIG Charity Day committee.”
The PALS organization puts donations like BTIG’s to use by making a positive difference in a patients’ lives. When 6-year old Faith, pictured below, needed medical care for her multiple medical issues unavailable to her in Island Falls, Maine, PALS flew her to and from Boston at no cost to her family, so she could be treated at Boston Children’s Hospital — a top treatment facility.
In just three years since opening its doors in 2010, PALS has arranged over 3,000 flights and as of today has flown 2,000 of them. Each flight offers help for those who need it most, including patients who have been able to access life-saving medical care, wounded veterans getting support during rehabilitation, family members who have been able to travel to a loved one during a medical crisis, and finally, flights that have brought emergency supplies and necessities to disaster areas.
