FAA-conforming HondaJet to make first public appearance at Oshkosh

By General Aviation News Staff · July 18, 2013 ·

An FAA-conforming HondaJet will make its first public appearance at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013.

All those attending the big show are invited to a special event on Monday, July 29, at 9:30 a.m. in Phillips 66 Plaza to celebrate the arrival of the HondaJet. Honda Aircraft Company President and CEO Michimasa Fujino and EAA Chairman of the Board Jack Pelton will also share remarks during the program.

Honda Aircraft Company is one of more than 775 exhibitors participating in AirVenture, which will be held July 29–Aug. 4. In addition to a static display of the HondaJet, visitors to the Honda Aircraft Company exhibit (#407 – 416) will have the opportunity to see other Honda innovations, including daily demonstrations of ASIMO, Honda’s advanced humanoid robot. The HondaJet incorporates many technological innovations in aviation design, including the unique Over-The-Wing Engine Mount (OTWEM) configuration that dramatically improves performance and fuel efficiency by reducing aerodynamic drag, according to company officials. The HondaJet is powered by two GE Honda HF120 turbofan jet engines, and is equipped with a Honda-customized Garmin G3000 next-generation, all-glass avionics system composed of three 14-inch landscape-format displays and dual touch-screen controllers. The HondaJet is Honda’s first commercial aircraft.
