Flying is serious: Pilots don’t always have to be

By General Aviation News Staff · July 31, 2013 ·

Now available at Sporty’s are several humorous signs that show the light-hearted side of aviation. Patterned after vintage signs from the 1920s and 1930s, these three signs have a weathered, old-style look.

“Four Forces of Flight” aren’t what you are taught in ground school. Rather, the sign illustrates the Four Forces as money, dreams, the FAA and reality.

AirspeedMoney“Airspeed and Money” are the topics of a sign which helpfully explains, “It only takes two things to fly.”

“FAA Mission” is not a lofty bureaucratic discourse. This sign states the FAA Mission as “We’re not happy until you’re not happy.”

FAAMissionThe signs measure 24 inches by 12 inches and come with four holes for mounting. .

“We all take our flying seriously,” says Sporty’s Vice President John Zimmerman. “But we like to have fun too. The humor in these signs will be appreciated by every pilot.”

The signs are available for $19.95 each.

More truisms than humor … but I guess all we can do is laugh.
