KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Hangar Ten Aviation Services complex, located at the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport (MKC), is responding to pent-up demand for new hangar space by adding an 11,000 square-foot multi-use facility.
The planned structure will feature a large bay, capable of hangaring aircraft the size of a Citation X, as well as adjoining offices that will house the new Hangar 10 Aircraft Sales initiative.
“As we emerge from a down market, Hangar Ten is experiencing demand for additional hangar and office space to accommodate the needs of current base customers,” said Jim Stowers, founder and developer of Hangar Ten. “We’ve now come to the point where expansion is possible and we look forward to serving the needs of these important, existing customers for years to come.”
Over the past three years, Hangar Ten has experienced an increase in transient traffic and fuel volume has increased as a result, he noted.
The design for the new hangar is being done by Dye Aviation, Atlanta; architects are H2B Architects, Kansas City; and the general contractor is Meyer Brothers Building Company, Kansas City. Construction will begin in September with a completion scheduled for January, 2014.
The planned hangar and office expansion will complement the existing 55,000-square-foot facility.
