By General Aviation News Staff · August 27, 2013 ·

MEXICO, Mo. —  Zenith Aircraft will host its 22nd Annual Open Hangar Day and Fly-In Sept. 21.

The event, which typically draws hundreds of people, is staged for the benefit of Zenith builders, owners and enthusiasts.

Scheduled activities begin on Friday, Sept. 20, when a series of seminars on powerplants, wiring, avionics, and issues like weight and balance are presented for current and prospective builders. A workshop will be busy all day with sample projects designed to show how easy and engaging it is to be involved in building a metal airplane.

Zenith workshopFriday evening, the company hosts a dinner at the nearby Elks Club, which is open to all attendees. Then on Saturday, the company rolls out all of its aircraft, gives demo flights, factory tours and engages in serious hangar talk. Throughout the day there will be a series of short seminars about building and flying an aircraft. Factory personnel will demonstrate the procedures for fabricating and assembling components of various Zenith designs.

We get a lot of people who are here to make a decision about purchasing a kit and it’s our desire to make it obvious that building an airplane is fun.”
