The Sporty’s Foundation concludes successful second quarter bequests

By General Aviation News Staff · September 4, 2013 ·

For the second quarter of 2013, The Sporty’s Foundation made bequests in the amount of $35,498 to groups and organizations promoting youth programs, making the 2013 total to date $73,996.

The top program was EAA’s Next Step, a year-round initiative in partnership with the Experimental Aircraft Association, where Young Eagles are encouraged to continue their aviation training by accessing Sporty’s Complete Learn to Fly course online at no charge.

“The Sporty’s Foundation works with many organizations that are dedicated to ensuring a next generation of pilots and technicians,” says Sporty’s Founder and Chairman Hal Shevers. “That support might go for anything from scholarships to museum exhibits.”

Other recipients of The Sporty’s Foundation’s second quarter bequests include disbursement of scholarship funds for the University of Cincinnati Professional Pilot Training Program and Women in Aviation, International; the Air and Space Museum; Youth Aviation Adventure; and the AOPA Foundation.

Launched in March 2007, The Sporty’s Foundation funds programs that work to educate young people on the excitement and life-enhancing potential of general aviation.
