Flying club’s Wings of Warmth to take off Nov. 2

By General Aviation News Staff · September 10, 2013 ·

The NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Flying Club has scheduled its annual Wings of Warmth (WOW) event on Saturday, Nov. 2. Through WOW, flying club members deliver clothes, food and related gifts to the people of Reading, Pa., an area hard hit by recession and unemployment.

The group leaves Tipton Airport (FME) in Maryland around 11 am for Reading Airport (RDG), arriving around noon.

Clothe, etc., are distributed to the various aircraft at FME starting at 8 am and then flown to Reading. “We always have more clothes than can be transported, so come join us,” organizers note.

Organizers also warn that Tipton is in the restricted flight area, so pilots must file into it. Additionally, the ceiling of the BWI airspace is 1,500 over Tipton.
