Sandel Avionics celebrates 15 years in business

By General Aviation News Staff · October 16, 2013 ·

VISTA, Calif. — Sandel Avionics is celebrating its 15 year anniversary in business at the National Business Aviation Association Annual Convention in Las Vegas, Oct. 23 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Hosted bar and refreshments will be served along with prize drawings.

Sandel was founded in 1998 with the purpose of bringing high performance, color graphics avionics to customers by recognizing that the emerging technology of rear projection could be used to produce compact cockpit displays, company officials said.

After a successful introduction of the SN3308 Electronic HSI with ColorMap, Sandel turned its attention to Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems (TAWS). Its ST3400 TAWS is a full color terrain warning display with advanced algorithms, has become a top-selling TAWS.

Sandel_TimelineSandel officials note the company also redefined the technology to eliminate nuisance alerts in real-world rotary-wing operations, giving safety benefits to helicopters only previously available to fixed-wing aircraft.

The Sandel product line includes Primary Navigation and Primary Attitude displays, AHRS, TAWS and HTAWS, which all have found application in both civil and military use, as well as worldwide adoption.

Sandel also holds more than 30 U.S. and international patents and its products are included in approximately 50 FAA Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs).
