Sheltair expands at FLL

By General Aviation News Staff · October 21, 2013 ·

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Sheltair has completed Phase I of an expansion at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Phase I of the three-phase development project included 134,806 square feet of hangar and office space on more than 11 acres of land on the west side of the airfield.

This is the first new general aviation facility to be constructed on the west side of the airport in more than a decade, according to company officials.

The grand opening ceremony for this complex will be held this November.

This completed phase of the complex provides exposure for businesses by offering the only street-front office space. In addition to the built-to-suit offices, which range from 2,500 to 5,600 square feet, the adjoining hangars have a tilt-up design for maximum hangar space usage and concrete construction for improved severe weather protection for aircraft, officials note. The hangar’s 28-foot doors allows for housing of a variety of aircraft up to a Gulfstream G650.

FLL-Rampside-editedSheltair’s FLL property includes a 24-hour full service FBO, 24-hour on-site U.S. Customs office, direct access to the new 8,000 foot runway, Hertz rental car facility, café and dining area, 24-hour office and hangar access and executive boardroom and conference room options.
