EAST ALTON, Ill. — West Star Aviation recently broke ground on a new maintenance facility totaling 47,000 square feet at St. Louis Regional Airport (ALN). In addition to the new maintenance facility, West Star also has plans to open a 14,000 square foot wood shop and a 6,000 square foot accessory repairs shop.
The multimillion dollar expansion will bring the East Alton facilities from 250,000 to 317,300 square feet with approximately 300 employees.
“The added facility will give us the hangar and shop space we need in order to continue expanding over the next three to five years,” said Rodger Renaud, Chief Operating Officer. “With more and more aircraft coming off their warranties and the increasing demand for refurbishment centers for small, mid, and large cabin aircraft, it is important that we take a proactive approach to the future.”
West Star Aviation also has plans to open a state-of-the-art paint facility as well as an additional maintenance facility and shop at its Grand Junction, Colo., (GJT) location. An additional 10,000 square feet of maintenance facilities are also planned at the Columbia, South Carolina (CAE) location.
