EAA offers members help with special issuances

By General Aviation News Staff · November 7, 2013 ·

EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. — Pilots who need medical certification special issuances can now get assistance through a new program from the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA).

EAA has teamed with AirDocs, an aeromedical consulting firm specializing in streamlining Special Issuance applications for FAA medical certificates, to offer a 10% discount. AirDocs, one of several such businesses in the country, is operated by a medical team led by Dr. Gregory Pinnell, an EAA member and volunteer member of EAA’s Aeromedical Advisory Council.

EAA provides its members with aeromedical advice through technical experts on staff and a dedicated volunteer group of physicians who counsel pilots on a “members helping members” basis, officials noted.

For members requiring additional help in obtaining a special issuance or sorting through any other aeromedical issue, the EAA-member discount available through AirDocs provides an affordable option for professional, personalized, and prompt assistance, officials added.

“AirDocs offers an affordable way to reduce headaches in the aeromedical certification process and get pilots back in the air quickly,” said Tom Charpentier, EAA Government Advocacy Specialist and coordinator of EAA’s aeromedical counseling program. “Most cases can be handled by AirDocs for about the cost of a flight physical, and all costs are explained up front.”
