Doman joins Hillsboro Aviation

By General Aviation News Staff · December 3, 2013 ·

Hillsboro Aviation has tapped John Doman, former vice president of worldwide propeller aircraft sales for Cessna, to join its management team. Doman’s new position is director of business development for Hillsboro Aviation’s sales and service division. This division includes new and used aircraft sales, maintenance and avionics services, aircraft parts sales and fuel sales.

Hillsboro Aviation is Bell Helicopter’s only independent representative for the sale of new Bell helicopters in the United States and the exclusive Cessna Authorized Sales Representative for single-engine piston aircraft in the Northwest.

“As we continue to expand the scope of services we provide and the territories in which we offer them, we need an employee dedicated to pursuing these growth opportunities. John Doman’s diverse experience in the worldwide general aviation community makes him a perfect match for this role assisting Hillsboro Aviation’s international sales and service division,” said Ryan McCartney, Hillsboro Aviation’s director of sales and service.

JOHN DOMAN C70433Doman spent most of his professional career at Cessna in various sales capacities. He began his career at Cessna as the Regional Sales Manager for the Far East and Pacific, traveling frequently to Australia, Japan, Singapore, China and India exploring opportunities in these growing general aviation markets.

During Cessna’s absence from the single-engine piston aircraft market, Doman established an international dealer network for a rapidly-growing biotechnology company before returning to follow his passion for aviation by founding and managing Vector Aviation, an FBO providing flight training, maintenance, fuel sales and Part 135 air charter.

When Cessna resumed single engine piston aircraft production in 1996, Doman accepted Cessna’s offer to return to build its sales team and global dealer network. Doman was promoted to vice president for worldwide sales of Cessna’s propeller aircraft, including models from the 162 Skycatcher to the 208B Grand Caravan, working with 120 dealers worldwide. Through his work with the dealer network, Doman was first introduced to Hillsboro Aviation in 1997.

After leaving Cessna in 2010, Doman managed worldwide sales, marketing and business development for Flight Design GmbH, a German manufacturer of light-sport aircraft.

Doman holds a bachelor’s degree in Asian studies from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in international management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Doman is an instrument-rated single and multi-engine private pilot.
