Flying club raises money for Honor Flight

By General Aviation News Staff · December 4, 2013 ·

The Bakersfield Flying Club has raised more than $3,000 for Honor Flight Kern County in Calif.

The month-long fundraiser includes a Christmas party raffle, with prizes ranging from three hours of instruction in the club’s Redbird FMX motion simulator to a Foreflight-equipped iPad Mini, Garmin navigational watch, and a noise-cancelling headset.

“We’re thrilled to be able to do something for our vets,” said club president Bill Woodbury. “Frankly, we had no idea what the response would be to our raffle, but it’s been great. Even non-members have jumped in to help.”

The raffle will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 6 pm, in the clubhouse at Atlantic Aviation at Meadows Field.
