Hi-def charts introduced

By General Aviation News Staff · January 14, 2014 ·

Adventure Pilot, manufacturer and developer of portable navigation software for pilots, has introduced High-Definition VFR and IFR Charts on the company’s iPad and Android products.

Annual subscriptions start at $69.99; a fully loaded IFR option is available for $40 more. iFly GPS for Android releases next month. A free 30-day trial is available on the App Store.

Adventure Pilot has developed a process that cleans, brightens and adds tremendous contrast to otherwise inherently lower-contrast FAA Charts, company officials said.  The result is a much sharper, brighter and more readable chart, making iPad and Android tablets more useable in brighter environments, such as a cockpit, officials said.

The iFly 520 and 720 also include high-definition charts that are optimized specifically for the sunlight-readable screen, officials add.
