SocialFlight partners with Seaplane Pilots Association

By General Aviation News Staff · January 21, 2014 ·

Where2 Interactive has formed a partnership with the Seaplane Pilots Association to promote water flying and host the Seaplane Pilots Association’s online event calendar, further establishing SocialFlight as the industry-wide calendar for general aviation.

In keeping with the grass-roots spirit of both organizations, the agreement between both companies was signed at the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, Florida.

The Seaplane Pilots Association is a membership based non-profit organization focused on promoting water flying, proficiency, safety and protecting the rights of seaplane pilots worldwide. The partnership includes a featured presence for the organization within SocialFlight, as well as the integration of a customized version of the SocialFlight web tool, embedded within Seaplane Pilots Association’s web site at Seaplanes.org. This new utility simplifies the entry, communication and management of more than 100 Seaplane Pilots Association splash-ins, meetings, seminars and other events worldwide, all from within the Seaplane Pilots Association’s web portal.

SocialFlight is a free mobile app and web suite that maps all of the general aviation events important to pilots, such as fly-ins, airshows, pancake breakfasts, conventions, FAA Safety Seminars and much more. SocialFlight mapped more than 5,000 events in 2013 and close to 2,000 events have already been catalogued for 2014, according to company officials.

“Water flying is one of the most exciting and magical experiences aviation has to offer. It presents a unique opportunity for pilots to expand their horizons and exposes aviation to the general public without the fences and restrictions of an airport environment,” said Steve McCaughey, executive director of the Seaplane Pilots Association. “We have seen the impact SocialFlight is having on general aviation and it was a natural fit to focus some of that energy on the seaplane community. Not only will SocialFlight benefit our members, but having over 100 Seaplane Pilots Association events listed in SocialFlight will expand our reach, exposing the benefits of Seaplane Pilots Association membership to the entire SocialFlight community.”
