NextGen seminar slated at Banyan

By General Aviation News Staff · January 22, 2014 ·

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Banyan Air Service based at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE) will host a NextGen Seminar on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. – 1 pm.

This seminar will include a hands-on workshop and a live demonstration of Controller Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC).

The purpose of the workshop is to provide hands on experience using the equipment that meets the North Atlantic FANS 1/A Mandates and European Mandate for LINK 2000+ requirements. Topics also covered will include ADS-B, ADS-C, and FANS 1/A benefits, which are improved communications, reduced separation between aircraft, and more direct routings. RSVP for the workshop online

Speakers include Darren Emery, VP of Product Introduction from ICG, who will provide an overview of FANS over Iridium, equipment and operational procedures. Also he will discuss long range Satcom voice initiative, including ICAO Satcom Voice Guidance updates.

Charlie Carroll, Regional Sales Manager, Universal Avionics, will be presenting Required Navigation Performance (RNP) and Area Navigation (RNAV) Operations and worldwide requirements. He will also provide updates on the benefits of satellite based augmentation systems including performance based navigation, WAAS, and LPV approaches.

“I’m excited about having a working demonstration of equipment that we can offer to our clients for solutions to these mandates,” said Alvie Barron, Banyan’s Director of Technical Sales, who organized the seminar. “I feel this hands-on experience will bring great value for aircraft operators looking to understand these mandates and how to comply.”

Banyan Air Service offers avionics installations, repairs modifications and is an authorized dealer for all major avionics manufacturers. Banyan is certified both FAA, EASA and has earned repair station approvals for Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Venezuela.
