Pipistrel delivers 600th aircraft in Sinus/Virus family

By General Aviation News Staff · February 15, 2014 ·

Pipistrel reports that the 600th aircraft from the Sinus/Virus family has just been completed and will be delivered to its new owner in Australia.

The occasion was an opportunity for Pipistrel’s 80 employees to take a photo next to the aircraft (below). They were accompanied by the Australian distributor, Michael Coates (second row, third from right) who sold the 600th aircraft. Coates has been a Pipistrel distributor for more than 15 years and was chosen as the “Distributor of the Year” in 2012.

PipistrelFactory“We are proud to announce that our entire yearly production for 2014 has been sold out already, so  aircraft no. 700 will also be produced this year,” company officials said in a prepared statement.

25_yearsSince it was founded in 1989, Pipistrel has produced more than 1,200 different aircraft, including other aircraft models and powered hang-gliders. The Pipistrel network of distributors and promoters spreads over more than 40 countries and the company’s aircraft fly in 67 countries so far.

To celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary, a number of special events are planning, including world record attempts.
