Internet aviation retailer PilotMall.com has announced the winners of the 2013 Bahamas Pilot Challenge conducted for the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.
Pilot Mall founder Neil Glazer, one of 13 Bahamas Flying Ambassadors who promote aviation tourism to the islands, administered the contest for North American flyers.
More than 100 pilots entered the challenge seeking prizes totaling 21 free nights at some of the Bahamas’ grandest resorts. Winners logged landings at the most Bahamas airports of entry. Landings at 12 of these 20 airports earned eligibility for top prizes. (Ties were decided by random drawing.) Runners-up won contest hats and T-shirts.
“We’re delighted that contestants hailed from all over, not just the Southeast,” said Glazer. “Clearly, last year’s increase in government fees did not deter participants from flying to the islands.”
Robert McGuire of Hawthorne, Florida, won the Grand Prize: Two nights each at the Pelican Bay Hotel on Grand Bahamas Island (GBI), Bimini Big Game Resort (Bimini), Valentine’s Resort on Harbour Island and Pigeon Cay Resort on Cat Island.
Second Prize went to Brad Zarembski of Wichita, Kansas. He won two nights each at the Sunrise Resort on GBI, at the Bimini Bay Resort and at Stella Maris on Long Island.
David Moose of Leesburg, Virginia, won the Third Prize of two nights each at Flamingo Bay on GBI and at Carriearl Boutique Hotel on Great Harbor Cay.
The Fourth Prize award of three nights at Swains Cay Lodge, Mangrove Cay, was won by David Lustgarten of Aventura, Florida. An extra added prize, two nights at the Treasure Cay Beach Resort on Abaco, was won by Wayne Norris of Liberty, Indiana.
