Dedication of World War II hangar set at BGE

The Decatur County Board of Commissioners will conduct a dedication ceremony Saturday, April 5, for Phase I of the World War II Hangar renovation project at Decatur County Airport (BGE) in Georgia.

IMG_0848Refreshments will be served after the ceremony, which begins at 11 a.m., according to airport officials. The hangar is adjacent to the FBO.

“We invite all pilots to fly in or drive in for this historic event,” said airport officials. “As an additional incentive, Tom Smith who owns a BT-15 Vultee (pictured above) that was delivered to Bainbridge Army Air Field in August 1942, the first month flight ops began here, plans to fly in for the ceremony. I don’t think you want to miss this.”
