Citation Jet Pilots Association names official wine partner

By General Aviation News Staff · May 21, 2014 ·

ENTERPRISE, Fla.— The Citation Jet Pilots Association has named Wagner Family of Wine as the official wine partner for the Citation Jet Pilots/Owner Pilot Association (CJP).

Beginning this month, Wagner Family of Wine, which includes the Caymus Vineyards, will join a small number of companies, such as Jaguar and Cessna, as a Platinum Partner with the association.

Chuck Wagner, Caymus Vineyards Owner, Winemaker, and Wagner Family of Wine founder, stated: “My family and I are passionate about both wine and aviation.”

Wagner (pictured bel0w) trained as a pilot and is a dedicated Cessna Citation enthusiast.

“Partnering with CJP will allow us to reach out to an exclusive group that share similar interests.  My hopes are that CJP will learn about the world of wine, in general, and specifically about my family’s unique group of wines.  Air travel is instrumental for CJP members, and we want to enhance their overall experience with a bit of great wine at the end of the day.”

“Citation owners appreciate quality,” says Chuck. “We are thrilled to share our wines and our family’s long tradition of California winemaking with current and future members of CJP.”

“Chuck and the Wagner family are highly regarded as one of America’s premier wine producers. We are proud to have this outstanding organization join us as a valued CJP Partner, allowing us to bring together two outstanding leaders in their respective fields.” said Ed Turley, CJP Chairman of the Board.  “A partnership with a premier brand such as Caymus, make sense because our members appreciate quality.”

The Wagners come from a long line of grape growers and winemakers, with a farming legacy that can be traced back nearly 160 years in the Napa Valley. It’s been more than 40 years since they founded Caymus Vineyards. Charlie Wagner Sr. began as a home winemaker in the 1930s using grapes planted behind their farmhouse, and today, his son Chuck Wagner continues to make Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley.

The Citation Jet Pilots Owner Pilot Association is dedicated to the ownership and operation of the Cessna Citation family of jets. Open to anyone who owns, flies or supports a Citation, the organization offers a wide range of educational, networking, and social benefits all with the common goal of helping each member get the most out of their Cessna Citation. An annual convention features educators and experts, aviation luminaries, as well opportunities for networking with Citation owners from around the world. Regional events, a web site with resources and discussion boards, and discounts with major aviation companies are among the other benefits members receive.

In addition, CJP is developing the Russ Meyer Library, which will be the Citation community’s most extensive depository of Citation knowledge, technical data and expertise.

Finally, the CJP Hall of Honor, presented at the annual convention, recognizes the contributions of Cessna Citation heroes and legends. Past recipients are Cessna Chairman Emeritus Russ Meyer, Jr., and retired Citation design master and company leader Bruce Petermen.
