Two fund-raisers prepare way for Warbird Weekend

By General Aviation News Staff · June 12, 2014 ·

GRANGEVILLE, Idaho – Warbird Weekend is approaching — July 12-13 — and two upcoming fund-raisers are planned to help fund fuel costs that support bringing more aircraft for the two-day show at the Idaho County Airport.

This Saturday, June 14, the Blue Fox Theater in Grangeville will show the ‘80s classic film “Top Gun.” The show starts at 9 p.m., and tickets are $5. Along with movie concessions there will be beer and wine.

The Warbird Weekend Softball Tournament will be Saturday, June 28, at the Grangeville Lions Park. Ten teams will compete in a single elimination tournament from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a beer and wine garden, food from The Twisted Cellar, and concessions and ice cream from Yummyz.

To sign up your softball team and help support Warbird Weekend, contact Leah Roberg at 509-499-1671.

This is the third year for Warbird Weekend (Saturday and Sunday, July 12-13) that features historic aircraft displays and flights, aviation exhibits and related events — all to showcase the Idaho County Airport as a regional economic hub and a gateway to North Central Idaho outdoors recreation.

Among the returning events this year include free Young Eagles flights for youth ages 8-17, tours of the USFS smokejumper facility and the Anderson Aeromotive facility.

Food and concessions will be available on site.
