FIAR OAKS, Ind. — The South Shore Air Show is returning in 2014 at a new location. Fair Oaks Farms, home to multiple attractions, will play backdrop to the airshow, slated for July 11-13.
“When making the decision to bring the airshow back, the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority staff wanted to bring it back bigger and better than ever,” said Speros A. Batistatos, president and CEO of the South Shore CVA.
Fair Oaks Farms is a 33,000-acre attraction, allowing the two organizations ample room to make additions to the family-fun event, he noted.
“Hosting an airshow at a tourism destination, like Fair Oaks Farms, has yet to be done in the United States,” said Batistatos. “We have a real opportunity to bring in new facets to an event that is already a ‘must-attend’ for residents and visitors.”
The US Air Force Thunderbirds (pictured above) will headline the South Shore Air Show, with numerous additional acts, including the US Army Golden Knights, Lima Lima, Elgin Wells’ Starjammer, Aerostars and more.
On Friday, July 11, attendees can enjoy the Twilight Show, which concludes with a fireworks display. The Twilight Show is set to begin at 6 p.m. and will conclude with fireworks at 10 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, July 12-13, attendees can enjoy the full airshow beginning at 12: p.m. and ending at 4 p.m.
Admission to the event is free and parking costs $20 per vehicle. Parking passes can be pre-purchased by visiting here.

While at the car show, attendees can also enjoy a DJ and music, food vendors, a beer garden and Fair Oaks Farms attractions. Spectator admission is a $2 donation or one canned good, with all proceeds benefitting the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana.
