Global Parts Group acquires Tulakes Aero assets

By General Aviation News Staff · July 13, 2014 ·

Global Parts Group of Augusta, Kan., distributors and producers of parts for business, general, and commercial aviation, has acquired the assets of Tulakes Aero of Bethany, Oklahoma and incorporated them into a new division of the Global Parts Group, named Global Parts Aero Structures.
Originally founded as Jet Service Enterprises in 1975, Tulakes also offers manufacturing, engineering, and inspection services to commercial, military and corporate operators as well as service centers, fixed base operators (FBOs), and charter companies.
“As part of our ongoing efforts to add capability and expertise to the Global Parts Group, we have acquired the assets and capabilities of Tulakes, a firm that has an established reputation in their specific areas of expertise.  Tulakes has, among its many assets, an outstanding reputation in sheet metal and composite component repair and overhaul,” noted Global Parts Group Chief Executive Officer Troy Palmer.
“We feel like this acquisition fits well into the overall business model for Global Parts.  We are looking forward to continuing to expand on our capabilities in the Oklahoma facility.  We have made significant investments in equipment and technology in recent months,” stated Global Parts Group Senior VP and Chief Operating Officer, Malissa Nesmith.
“These acquisitions represent the latest step in the diversification and expansion of the GlobalParts Group, Inc. We have now added expertise in working with composite structure and sheet metal and are positioned to supplement the operations of airframe manufacturers as well as provide parts and services to our existing customer bases.  By maintaining the former Tulakes operation in Oklahoma, we have also expanded our Part 145 Repair Station footprint and capacity beyond our Kansas location,”  Nesmith added.
With the addition of Global Parts Aero Structures, the Global Parts Group now includes the GlobalParts.aero parts distribution division, Global Parts Aero Manufacturing, the fabrication segment that was added in 2014, Global Parts Aero Services, the Kansas based Part 145 repair station, and another recently-formed entity, Interceptor Aviation, which is  responsible for oversight and support of the Meyers Aircraft airframe.
The capabilities from Tulakes Aero bring a broad spectrum of expertise to the Global Parts family, according to company officials.  It is involved in the repair, overhaul, exchange, and sale of jet parts for commercial, military, and corporate aircraft. It also manufactures wing and empennage components, including leading edges, spars, wing skins, stringers, ribs, and control surfaces; fuselage components, such as skins, stringers, and frames; metallic and composite fairings; nacelle components, such as nose caps, skins, frames, and barrels; and landing gear, crew, passenger, and baggage/cargo doors. In addition, the company provides engineering and inspection services.
