Wipaire completes installation of floats on Airvan 8

By General Aviation News Staff · July 29, 2014 ·

OSHKOSH — Wipaire reports it has completed installation of Wipline 3450 amphibious floats on a Mahindra Airvan 8 and has begun conducting preliminary flights to test the feasibility of the aircraft on floats. Pending successful outcome of the feasibility tests, a certification program will launch later this year.

Chuck Wiplinger, Wipaire’s president and COO, noted “The Airvan 8 is in service around the world, serving in remote areas where sturdy construction and design are a necessity.  Wipline floats will deliver rugged utility and performance and open up new frontiers for this impressive aircraft.”

Wipaire AirVanThe Airvan 8 is produced by Australian manufacturer GippsAero Pty Ltd, a division of Mahindra Aerospace.  Powered by a 320 horsepower Lycoming TIO-540-AH1A turbocharged engine, the Airvan 8 is certified in Australia, the United States, and in many European countries through the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

An Airvan 8 on Wipline 3450 amphibious floats is available for viewing at EAA AirVenture in the Mahindra Aerospace display (237-238 and 243-244).
