The September/October 2014 issue of FAA Safety Briefing focuses on the world of student pilots and airmen-in-training.
A continuation to the magazine’s last student pilot-themed edition in 2012, this issue explores additional tips and resources to help provide a successful path to initial pilot certification, as well as provide a refresher to those more experienced aviators, FAA officials said.

Nuts. Bolts, and Electrons (p 28) covers some tips when renting an aircraft, and Angle of Attack (p 29) highlights the dangers of equating safety with logbook size.
Finally, of particular interest to current or future student pilots, “Meet the ACS” (p 23) provides an update on moving towards the new Airman Certification Standards, an effort that looks to improve the FAA’s airmen testing and training materials.
