West Star Aviation awarded ODA at all locations

By General Aviation News Staff · October 31, 2014 ·

West Star Aviation recently has been appointed a holder of an “Organization Designation Authorization (ODA)” by the FAA.

The ODA allows West Star to manage its own certification projects and determine compliance with FAA procedures and guidelines, company officials explain. To receive the authorization, West Star had to complete a lengthy process to demonstrate to the FAA that it has the necessary competence and procedures in place to maintain the highest level of safety and compliance of industry standards.

“We are confident in our abilities and take this new responsibility very seriously,” said Samuel Haycraft. “We have appointed current West Star employees to coordinate all activities and work closely with the local Aircraft Certification Offices (ACO) to complete our STC and PMA projects.”

Jeff Masziewicz has been assigned as Lead Administrator, and Bill Pobanz has been appointed Assistant Administrator.

West Star Aviation specializes in the repair and maintenance of airframes, windows, and engines, as well as major modifications, avionics installation and repair, interior refurbishment, surplus avionics sales, accessory services, paint and parts.

In addition to its facilities in East Alton, Ill.; Grand Junction, Colo.; and Columbia, S,C., West Star Aviation runs the maintenance operations at Aspen-Pitkin County Airport in Aspen, Colo., and at Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield, Mo. The company also provides FBO services at its newly remodeled East Alton and Grand Junction facilities.
