E6B Circular Flight Computer debuts

By General Aviation News Staff · November 4, 2014 ·

New from ASA is the E6B Circular Flight Computer.

Pilots can use the calculator side to perform time, speed, distance, rate, fuel consumption, altitude, airspeed, air temperature, and pressure pattern calculations.

ASAUse the wind side for addition and subtraction problems, as well as solving for true wind, winds in flight, true course and ground speed, true heading and true airspeed, and off-course correction calculations.

The matte finish on the wind side of the calculator can be marked with a pencil during use, then wiped clean to allow input for the next problem, according to ASA officials.

The flight computer, priced at $29.95, can be used during flight planning, flight training or studying, and may be used during FAA Knowledge Exams.

Can also be used in flight!

Although (unfortunately) this will go as the slide rule did!!
I think it allready has unfortunatly. I still have mine in the flight bag, but eventually I probably will sucome to peer pressure and get a I-Pad.
What a shame newer gen Pilots won’t even know how to use these! well I guess I don’t have anything to brag about because I don’t know how to operate an I-pad! but!!! I can still figure fuel burn, eta, ata, wca, ect. even when the charge / batteries run out (and we are all human so we do at times forget to plan for this).
By the way another instrument thats inexpendable is my timex and whisky compass.
