Legend Cub adds ADS-B compliant system

By General Aviation News Staff · November 18, 2014 ·

American Legend Aircraft Co. has installed an ADS-B system in its Legend Cub. The installation, which meets the FAA’s 2020 mandatory compliance requirements for ADS-B equipage, incorporates a FreeFlight Systems Model 1201 WAAS GPS sensor and a Trig Avionics Mode S and 1090ES ADS-B Out capable transponder. The ADS-B solution allows Legend Cub operators to take advantage of NextGen technology today providing traffic awareness, plus weather and information services delivered subscription-free to in-cockpit displays, according to company officials.

Add >$6000 to a $125,000 bare bones LSA airplane. How much of the cost of that airplane is due to FAA regulations? I suspect this is why GA is struggling.

    We don’t need no ADSB,
We don’t need no third class medical,
Let’s fight to keep our airspace free,
Their outdated rules are way too radical.
