Lauber Safety award presented to Patankar

By General Aviation News Staff · November 19, 2014 ·

The University Aviation Association recently awarded the 2014 John K. Lauber Safety Award to
Dr. Manoj Patankar of Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology. The Lauber Safety Award recognized Patankar for outstanding achievements in aviation safety.

Patankar is the Executive Director of the Center for Aviation Safety Research and a professor of aviation at Saint Louis University. Soon after coming to Parks College, Patankar published two books in quick succession: “Risk Management and Error Reduction in Aviation Maintenance” and “Applied Human Factors in Aviation Maintenance.” Both are widely used in safety programs around the world, according to UAA officials.

In 2005, he published another book, “Safety Ethics,” and in 2012, his most recent book, “Safety Culture,” was released.

The Lauber Safety Award, sponsored by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, honors Dr. John K. Lauber, a pioneer in the field of aviation safety and human factors. Dr. Lauber was a two-term member of the National Transportation Safety Board, vice president of Corporate Safety and Compliance at Delta Air Lines, and vice president of Training and Human Factors at Airbus Industries.
