Stratus 2 updated

By General Aviation News Staff · November 19, 2014 ·

The Stratus 2 ADS-B receiver has been updated with ForeFlight version 6.4, which enables flight data recording.

Stratus2“Because ForeFlight and Stratus were built as a system, it’s fast and easy to do firmware updates, with no cables or computer downloads required,” says Sporty’s Vice President John Zimmerman. “This allows us to continually add new features, and we’re proud to offer these upgrades free to all Stratus 2 owners.”

Completing the update is simple, he said. Update ForeFlight to version 6.4, then connect Stratus to your iPad and open the Stratus Status menu. Select the “tap to update” option and let the app do the rest. After completing the update, you’ll see a new option that allows you to enable Stratus flight data recording and view previously recorded track logs.Stratus

With the feature enabled, Stratus will start recording automatically when the unit is powered on and the built-in GPS senses motion. Stratus 2 records position, speed, and altitude data, plus pitch and roll information from the built-in AHRS. Up to 20 hours of data can be stored on the receiver’s built-in memory.

Stratus 2 is available for $899.
