Twin Commander University convenes in April

By General Aviation News Staff · November 28, 2014 ·

Savannah, Ga., has been chosen as the site for the next Twin Commander University, a biennial owner/operator conference dedicated to owner and pilot education. The dates for the 2015 University are Thursday-Saturday April 23-25, and the place is the Hilton Savannah Desoto hotel in the heart of the Savannah historic district.

TwinCommander 2The University centers around two days of  seminars ranging from instrument takeoff and approach procedures to operating techniques to get the most out of the Honeywell TPE331 engines that power all turboprop Twin Commander models, according to Twin Commander officials.

The University also features product and service exhibits staffed by Twin Commander authorized service centers and partner companies including SimCom, the exclusive provider of simulator-based Twin Commander pilot initial and recurrent training.

The University also will showcase the new Garmin 950-equipped Twin Commander, a completely refurbished Commander retrofitted with a Garmin 1000 panel and STEC 2100 Digital Flight Control System.

The weekend begins with a Welcome Reception at the Desoto, and on Friday evening everyone will gather for a cruise down the Savannah River to historic Ft. Jackson, where guests will disembark for a traditional lowcountry boil — a one-pot meal of shrimp, sausage, corn-on-the-cob, and potatoes.
