Flying Musicians to entertain at first flight celebration

By General Aviation News Staff · December 3, 2014 ·

The Flying Musicians Association (FMA) will provide music at the banquet celebrating the 111th anniversary of the Wright brothers first powered flight at Kitty Hawk, N.C., on Dec. 16, hosted by the First Flight Society.

This year First Flight will be honoring the Paul E. Garber Shrine Inductee, Col. Mary S. Feik.

FMA_Logo_final1_ 2009FMA will also have an informational display set up to greet guests and answer questions about the organization and its mission. Join us at the Hilton Garden Inn by calling 252.441.1903 to purchase your tickets.

John Zapp, President/CEO of FMA, said, “The skills required to play an instrument and fly an aircraft have marked similarities, from precision and multitasking to listening and fine motor skills. By educating others about these common attributes, we hope to generate interest, activity and appreciation in both aviation and music. FMA has made great strides over the last five years, working hard to establish a foundation for outreach across the country.”

FMA members Billy Gee, Donny Story (son of World War II B-25 pilot Don Story) and John Zapp will provide music at the Pre-Flight Celebration Dinner/Banquet at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk.
