By General Aviation News Staff · January 16, 2015 ·

An aviation hazards seminar for general aviation pilots and aviation weather enthusiasts will be held in Wichita Jan. 23.

Co-sponsors are the National Weather Service office in Wichita, the Kansas Army National Guard, and EagleMed critical care air medical transport company. The seminar on Convective Weather Effects (thunderstorms and their hazards) will be held from 9 am to 4 pm at the Heartland Preparedness Center, 2808 N. New York St.

The tentative agenda includes sessions by FAA, National Weather Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration personnel.

EagleMed matter experts will present on the impact of weather on airplane and helicopter operations and the use of night vision goggles during night air medical helicopter flights.

Session topics include turbulence and microbursts, fog and thunderstorm climatology and tower operations during inclement weather.
