SEATTLE — As the Seattle Seahawks face the New England Patriots Sunday in the Super Bowl, the Museum of Flight will temporarily rename one of its iconic fighter jet aircraft for that day —and that day only — from Skyhawk to Seahawk.
Curator Dan Hagedorn said, “We wouldn’t normally engage in such activities but, given the circumstances, we have decided to change the popular name for our Douglas A-4F “Skyhawk” — resplendent, incidentally, in deep blue Blue Angels colors — to Douglas A-4F “Seahawk” for the entire day of the Super Bowl. We are also considering assigning a temporary line number of “12” the aircraft as well.”
The aviation historian’s bold statement included his insights about this notorious fighter/bomber jet, “As many who have crewed on the aircraft can attest, it was a real fast-mover and a genuine boomer.”
This town has gone completely Seahawks crazy this year. I’ve lived here all my life I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like it.
