AMETEK Prestolite Power has introduced a Wireless Battery Identification Device (WBID) designed to help make aerospace and aviation manufacturing and warehouse facilities more efficient, according to officials with the Troy, Ohio-based company.
In places that use battery-powered lift trucks and utility vehicles, the new WBID system continually reads and stores information about lift truck batteries and their charging status.
The company also updated DataLink 2, its data analysis software used in conjunction with WBIDs and battery Charger Interface Devices (CIDs). Working together, the WBID and DataLink 2 gather data wirelessly, monitor battery usage and identify potential problems that could lead to downtime, company officials said.
