Breitling has introduced the Chronoliner: The Authentic Flight Captain’s Watch.Inspired by a model from the 1950s and 1960s, the new Chronoliner features a broad bezel in scratch-resistant high-tech ceramic with a star-shaped cut-out to facilitate handling, along with white ceramic numerals ensuring a contrast.
The second time zone is clearly read off thanks to the red-tipped hand and the rotating bezel with its graduated 24-hour scale, according to company officials.
The performances of the chronograph, which is officially chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), are displayed on counters at 12, 9 and 6 o’clock.
how much
One dealer quoted me at $8,550. The US dealers are waitimg about a month to get them though.
A beautiful looking instruments … from a world renowned watch maker.
Not sure what makes the Chronoliner a captain’s watch. The now-obsolete Breitling B1 is much more worthy of the description, “captain’s watch” than this hunk of metal. My $298 Citizen Navihawk Blue Angels watch does much more for 1/10 the price. I’ll never understand why one needs to pay the kind of money that Breitling demands for a watch. But then again, some people light their Cuban cigars with $20 bills and burn 200 gallons per hour in private air chariots to get to their weekend getaway. Oh yea, I know: paired with their sextant and star book, they can find their way to the Las Vegas Strip to join the other high rollers! I knew there was a reason for COSC certification. If my second had were off, I may end up at the Mustang Ranch instead of the Strip!
I totally agree. I’ve bought two Citizen Eco-drive Skyhawks over the last 12 years, only because I gave one to my son. Fantastic watch. More accurate than a Rolex, doesn’t need a battery or winding, and has more features than any other watch I can think of. All for, you are correct, 1/6th of the price of one of these.
Looks interesting.
How much?
Really nice looking watch. I received a Breitling Air Wolf for Christmas. Again beautiful watch, except for the weight and thickness, it was almost 3/4″ thick. Returned it for an Aerospace. This watch appears to be about the same dimensions as the Air Wolf. Too much weight on my wrist for me.
