Buzz Aldrin and Dick Rutan to join ThinkGlobal Flight’s departure

By General Aviation News Staff · March 13, 2015 ·

BURBANK, Calif. — On June 13 Think Global Flight (TGF) begins its around the world flight to promote education.

The TGF crew, Capt. Judy Rice and navigator Fred Nauer, will recognize donors and volunteers before their noon departure in a Citation Mustang.

As part of the event, a fund-raising Citation flight for five people will be auctioned and cultural food will also be served. Among those attending are TGF Ambassadors Astronaut Dr. Buzz Aldrin and Voyager pilot Dick Rutan. Buzz Aldrin will be joining the crew on most of their journey.

“Back when I was privileged to be a part of the Apollo program, the USA was number 1 in the science and technology fields,” Aldrin said. “No one had ever heard of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) because we were at the top. Today, America is falling behind other countries. STEM is the precise focus of Think Global Flight’s reaching more than 20,000 students and why I strongly support Captain Judy and the flight. I am looking forward to celebrating with the TGF Crew on June 13, as well as joining them for many of their global adventures.”
