Picture of the day: ‘Just a fun plane’

By General Aviation News Staff · May 6, 2015 ·

Walter Hake sent in this photo of his Taylorcraft, advising us to “note the starter gear behind the prop. It is driven by a 20 volt drill. It turns the prop slightly faster than I can hand prop, works great.”

He goes on to say:

“Just a fun plane with a 300 mile range. The picture was taken in front of my hangar n Venice, Florida.”

Is there anyway I could get more information on your electric drill starter? I have a 7AC champ that that would work real nice on.

I like the idea of the starter motor. How do I get FAA approval to add an electric drill starter motor to my certified airplane?
