Rainier Flight Service launches FBO at RNT

By General Aviation News Staff · May 16, 2015 ·

Rainier Flight Service recently opened its new location at Renton Municipal Airport (RNT) in Washington State and will hold its official grand opening and fly-in May 30.

Launched in 2009, Rainier Flight Service specializes in flight training, aircraft maintenance, aviation seminars and social events. Amenities include several briefing rooms, a 50-seat classroom, free wifi and coffee.

“The environment is very welcoming to a beginning pilot. Someone who has never flown before can walk in and feel at home,” said Chandra Smith, general manager for Rainier Flight Service. “It’s the perfect place to have a cup of coffee and get a weather briefing before heading out for a flight.”

The classroom can accommodate groups of up to 50 people with A/V equipment to accommodate professional seminars and events.

“It is very important we create an aviation community,” explains Gordon Alvord, one of Rainier Flight’s owners. “We wanted to create an environment where all kinds of aviation groups and clubs could meet and share a common passion.”

Connected to the building is a large hangar for aircraft maintenance.  The tie-down ramp is easily accessible and Rainier Flight Services leases two aircraft for club rental along with 11 training aircraft and a simulator. Twenty-three instructors offer a variety of instruction from basic to advanced including seaplane ratings and aerobatics.

The grand opening event on Saturday, May 30, is free and open to the public. From 3-6 pm, the public can take a tour of the new facility and enjoy catered hors d’oeuvres with craft beer provided by locally-owned Airways Brewing.

Children can watch a Disney movie and drawings will be held for door prizes, including a free Discovery Flight.
