Legend Cub gets carbon fiber amphib floats

By General Aviation News Staff · June 8, 2015 ·

SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas — Now available are carbon fiber amphibious floats for the Legend Cub and Super Legend.

Designed and manufactured by American Legend Aircraft Co., the LF1500A floats allow for takeoffs and landings on both water and terra firma, according to company officials.

The LF1500A floats are purposely built for the Legend Cub and Super Legend. The floats were  designed, tested and certified in-house, company officials note.

Features include mechanically operated retractable wheels. The rear wheels sport a trailing link design while the front wheels cantilever forward.

The LF1500A amphibs also offer watertight storage compartments and are constructed of Kevlar and carbon fiber.

Legend Floats
For pilots, a Legend Cub equipped with the new floats will feel just like the wheel-equipped Legend Cub in flight, company officials said. The aerodynamic floats provide some lift, negating additional drag and weight concerns, they explain.
