MAC Air Group breaks ground for new FBO at PWM

By General Aviation News Staff · July 15, 2015 ·

MAC Air Group, the Portland, Maine, family-owned and operated aviation services company, has broken ground on its first FBO.

The new 43,000-square-foot facility at Portland International Jetport (PWM) is expected to be complete in January 2016. Total cost of the project is $6 million, according to company officials.

It will have 30,000 square feet dedicated to hangar space, while the 13,000-square-foot FBO will comprise two levels with the first floor incorporating crew and passenger facilities.  The second floor will be dedicated to office space, including MAC Air Group’s corporate headquarters.

Crew will benefit from a crew lounge and quiet room, flight planning resources, shower facilities and fitness room. Passenger facilities will include a customer lounge, executive conference amenities, gourmet catering service and front desk reception area.

MAC Air Group will decorate the interior with photographs that demonstrate the company’s 56-year aviation history, according to company officials.

The full service FBO will offer JetA and 100LL fuel (100LL will be full service and have a self-service station). MAC Air Group staff will manage the facility to provide quick turnaround refueling; ramp services; aircraft hangar space; lavatory services; GPUs; catering; courtesy cars; rental cars; and a concierge service to assist with accommodation requests and local recommendations.  MAC Air Group will also continue to offer maintenance services through its maintenance division.
