Planning is underway for the 30th annual Simsbury Fly-In and Car Show, scheduled for Sept. 20 at Simsbury Airport (4B9) in Connecticut.
According to organizers, more than 750 airplanes and cars of virtually every type and vintage are expected to be on display in a country fair-like venue.
“We have more than 100 exhibitors, advertisers, and sponsors,” officials noted. “Last year we attracted 15,000 spectators from all around the region. It is the largest event of its kind in the Northeastern USA.”
This year’s event will include: A Shriners’ parade, radio control model aerobatics, Waco biplane rides, World War I aircraft from Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, free seminars, live music by two bands, many kids activities, an aerial banner pickup demo, formation flying, judging and trophies, many new aircraft and cars on display by dealers, Ben and Jerry’s and other good eats, local craft items for sale, breakfast and lunch.
Do you remember Ron Majors. I was instructing at Simsbury in the late 50’s. I remember an Al Jennings who bought a Tripacer. Flew it to Florida. I live in Safford, AZ now.
Glad to see Simsbury Airport is still in operation. I took my first solo and lessons at that airport about 45 years ago. The instructor was a WWII navy SBD dive bomber pilot.
