STC provides AC for Diamond DA42

By General Aviation News Staff · July 24, 2015 ·

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Aircenter, working in collaboration with StandardAero’s Springfield, Illinois’ in-house FAA Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) delegation, has obtained Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval for a new, electrically driven air conditioning system for the Diamond DA 42 NG series of aircraft.

The air conditioning system is also available for field retrofits to Diamond DA 42 Twin Star aircraft.

DA42_NG_05-PRThe new system, rated at 16,500 BTU, weighs 52 pounds. It is located in the rear baggage compartment extension and can also be run on the ground — prior to engine start — with the use of a ground power unit. The evaporator utilizes a three-speed blower fan for quiet operation, along with a replaceable air filter.
